Race Committee
The name of this organization is "Run for
Dave, Ltd." in honor of Police Officer David Mello whose spinal cord was
injured rendering him paralyzed from the neck down after being involved in an
automobile accident. Our purpose is to organize an annual charity road race
that will provide financial assistance to Officer David Mello and his family.
The corporation is
registered with the State of Massachusetts.
The Executive Board of Directors for Run for Dave,
Ltd. consists of a President, Treasurer, Clerk and two (2) Directors.
Run for Dave, Ltd. also welcomes non-board members
to join. Membership is open to any individual who wishes to participate in
helping this organization achieve our purpose.
The Run For Dave, LTD committee would like to thank
everyone involved in making the 1st Annual
2008 Run For Dave such a success. This was a significant event that
involved a coalition of over 60 business sponsors, a municipality, 10 Police
Association sponsors and several fire department and ambulance service
sponsors. 315 runners, 200 walkers, 500 raffle/auction participants and 80
volunteers attended this event.
Tabulations indicate over $45,000.00 has been
raised for our first annual race and fundraising activities. In the midst of a
local recession, there were many compelling stories of courage, compassion and
leadership associated with this event. These outstanding acts of kindness and
charity will surely serve to strengthen and define a community and its people
for years to come.
